Curriculum for Middle School
We are constantly updating classes offered in an attempt to give a variety of opportunities and a broad range of experiences to our students. Each class is eligible to be taken as an elective class that will count toward graduation. This year includes Choir, Cooking, Sewing, Band, Drama, and Sports plus much more.
band
Our band program is open to beginning students as well as intermediate and advanced students. Students are assigned practice lessons and meet on Fridays for class. Our band consists of brass, woodwind, and percussion instruments. Students perform at the winter concert and end of year program and can compete in solo events at competition.
cooking
Do you want to take your culinary skills to the next level? Led by Mrs. Karen Kennedy, students in home economics/cooking learn useful skills such as cooking, baking, kitchen safety, quick meals, following recipes, and much more. Sign up soon as the class size is limited due to kitchen space.
drama/speech
Students are taught many forms of speech and drama such as: acting, dramatic interpretation, poetry, religious reading, humorous interpretation, extemporaneous speaking, and oral interpretation of Scripture. Students present a show/play each year demonstrating the skills they have learned.
CHAPEL
Students are challenged to keep a Biblical worldview when facing choices and decisions daily. They also learn the importance of keeping a right relationship with the Lord, explore the fruits of the Spirit, and honoring/obeying authority.
Choir
Students continue exploring the ten essential elements of music. The elements are experienced through sacred, traditional, and some secular music. Students are taught proper vocal technique and vocal health. Students sing in an ensemble that regularly rehearses together. Students may audition for All-County and All-State choruses.
ART
Elements of art include art safety, clay, plaster, paper, metal, wet/dry media (pencil, pen, pastels, etc.), acrylic, digital imaging, still life, environmental, and art careers.
sewing
Students will learn to use a sewing machine, needlework, mending, following a pattern, and much more. Spiritual truths are integrated into everyday homemaking tasks to help students see the value in everything they do! The class size is limited and is reserved for those who register for it first.
LUNCH
(GRADES 6-8TH) Lunchtime is provided for students to refuel and finish out the day strong. Pack your student's lunch for them to bring or you can purchase pizza for them on a lunch account.
