fine arts
“To send light into the darkness of men’s hearts – such is the duty of the artist.” ~Schumman
We are excited about our award-winning fine arts program at CBCA!
Our high school music and drama students have earned numerous awards and accolades at both state and national levels.
On Fridays throughout the school year, students enjoy band; elementary, middle, and high school choir; elementary, middle, and high school drama; and elementary, middle, and high school art.
Highlights of our school year include state and national fine arts competitions, high school band and choir festivals, our full-stage drama production, and our fine arts/awards program.
Testimonials from our alumni state that the skills and confidence gained from their music and drama classes at CBCA have proven beneficial to them in their college and vocational settings.
Hats off to our music and drama directors, teachers, and volunteers for their investment in the lives of our students!
drama
Our drama department is headed up by Mrs. Monica Bass.
Mrs. Bass is a graduate of Tennessee Temple University, and has a love of all things drama! Under her direction, our drama students have consistently earned top honors at both state and national competitions in individual and group categories.
Mrs. Bass also directs our CBCA stage production on campus each year, with past productions including Charolette’s Web, Anne of Green Gables, Meet Me In St Louis, Father Knows Best, Murder By The Book, Somewhat True Tale of Robin Hood, Dirty Dealings In Dixie, West Of Pecos, Arsenic And Old Lace, and Alice In Wonderland.
Our drama department has been expanded to include our middle and elementary levels, giving those students the opportunity to experience the fundamentals of stage performance and public speaking.

music
Our music program is under the direction of Mr. Breeze Kennedy, a graduate of Florida Southern College. Classes include elementary, middle, and high school choirs, rhythm band for K-5th grade students, and band for 6th – 12th grade students. Mr. Kennedy directs our high school choir and ensembles, leading them to award-winning performances at state and national competitions.
We host the Florida Christian High School Choir Festival on campus each year, an all-day event culminating in a mass choir performance showcasing the blended vocal talents of students from schools throughout the state.
Along with preparing students for competitions and performances, Mr. Kennedy tutors CBCA groups who are preparing for All-County Chorus, All-State Chorus, and Music Performance Assessment, events sponsored by Polk County Schools.
As highlight for our school in 2017, our choir had the privilege of singing in Disney’s Candlelight Processional.
Our band program is open to beginning students as well as intermediate and advanced students. Students are assigned practice lessons and meet on Fridays for class.

art
Our art program offers classes for students K-12th grade, under the direction of Mrs. Melissa Shuart. In our art program we desire to encourage students to express and develop creativity. We start with learning about the color wheel, the use of rulers and scissors, and from using shapes to draw to understanding texture, shading, and perspective.
We use a variety of mediums-pencils, colored pencils, markers, ink, watercolor, and acrylic paint. Our high school students also have the opportunity to enter approved art projects in the SSACS competition and proceed to AACS competition if they take first place at SSACS.
